Online Blackjack

The game of blackjack really hasn’t changed much in decades, maybe centuries. Combining a relatively simple set of rules and a short learning curve with a definite attainable edge for the strategic player, the allure of the classic game of blackjack is obvious.

However, there has been one major change that may prove to be the biggest thing to hit blackjack since they took the jokers out of the deck. This, as you may have guessed, is the journey of blackjack from being a game found chiefly in ‘brick-and-mortar’ casinos to a game that most people will play online.

Not that the game itself has changed much; when you play blackjack online, you’ll be hard-pressed to identify any details that the software designers didn’t get exactly right. All of the same strategies that worked (or didn’t) in the land-based casino will work equally well in the online casino, USA or elsewhere.

And while I’d never in a million years encourage you to cheat in any game, online or offline, playing and especially learning online blackjack is made a bit easier when you consider that all of the resources are immediately available.

What that means is that you can pull out those strategy cards to figure out what the next most ‘perfect’ play will be. No ‘land-based’ casino would allow that sort of behavior (even if you were willing to risk your cool gambler image by consulting notes in public). Why, many of the best online casinos will even offer such things, built right into the blackjack game itself.

Of course, if you ever hope to play blackjack in any other environment, you’ll probably want to use such things as little as possible. And you’ll only be helping your gameplay skills in general if you learn the moves by heart, instead of relying on a crutch. But this is still a perfect example of the many extras that online gambling can offer (and don’t even get me started about online slots tournaments, progressives, et cetera)!
